Fire Fighter

About the role

G4S Kenya Ltd is hiring a Fire Fighter based in Nairobi (Westlands). The role involves responding to emergency calls and requests for assistance, working as part of a disciplined team, and helping protect the community from fire risks.

Key responsibilities

• Respond immediately and safely to all emergency calls and requests for assistance, dealing with emergencies as directed.
• Minimise distress and suffering, including giving first aid care.
• Establish and maintain the confidence of members of the public.
• Give general fire safety advice and guidance, and help educate the community about the risks and hazards of fire.
• Assist in service initiatives, programmes and strategies to reduce fire calls.
• Recognise health and safety issues at work and deal with them to minimise or eliminate hazards.
• Maintain the physical and medical fitness needed for the job.
• Keep all firefighting and emergency equipment ready, including cleaning, repairing and testing to approved standards.
• Know the local streets, roads and buildings within the fire station response area.
• Complete basic paperwork and routine administration, including recording information.
• Take part in a continuous training programme of lectures, exercises and practice drills.
• Undertake other duties required by the Chief Fire Officer and ensure the safety of yourself and others at all times.
