Senior Security Officer

About the role

Bandari Maritime Academy is recruiting a Senior Security Officer in Westlands, Nairobi. The post reports to the Principal Administrative Officer and covers security management, risk identification, surveillance and liaison with law enforcement. It is a permanent and pensionable position.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the development and implementation of security policies and procedures
• Provide security advice to management and intelligence information services
• Coordinate security reports and identify security risks, offering mitigation measures
• Coordinate security across staff, students, visitors, property, equipment and machinery
• Oversee security systems and monitor them for improvement
• Lead the implementation of CCTV surveillance and liaise with the ICT team for real-time data
• Run security sensitization programmes and train staff
• Build relationships with law enforcement and other government agencies
• Oversee patrol operations and manage outsourced security guards
• Investigate breaches and close cases within set time limits
• Maintain a databank of security incidents and trends, review intelligence and investigation reports, and archive security footage

Required profile

• Cumulative service of three years, including at least three years in the grade of Security Officer I or a comparable position
• Bachelor's degree in Criminology and Security Studies or an equivalent qualification
• Certificate in basic security from a recognised institution
• Current certificate of good conduct from the Kenya Police Service

Required skills

• Proficiency in computer applications

What we offer

• Basic salary scale of Kshs. 71,500 to 141,500 per month
• House allowance of Kshs. 20,000, commuter allowance of Kshs. 14,000 and leave allowance of Kshs. 6,000
• Permanent and pensionable terms of service
