Fleet Coordinator

About the role

A leading logistics provider, represented by Stratostaff East Africa, is recruiting a Fleet Coordinator for a three-month assignment in Nairobi, Kenya, supporting a newly launched client business. The role oversees the strategic and operational management of the vehicle fleet, ensuring efficiency, regulatory compliance and cost-effectiveness, while managing procurement, supplier relationships and sustainability initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and review SOPs to improve distribution processes, and deliver training with updated training matrices.
• Coordinate distribution and dispatch activities, including sourcing additional vehicles when needed, and monitor shipment status for safety and quality.
• Implement and oversee transport management systems such as TMS SOLOPLAN and ONELINK, and monitor telematics and fleet performance metrics.
• Ensure vehicle compliance with local regulations and safety standards, enforce safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.
• Manage documentation and filing, including Proof of Deliveries (PODs), and handle insurance matters such as claims and incident investigations.
• Maintain clear communication with team members, transporters and other departments, and motivate and monitor team performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Management or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in fleet management or a related role, with proven vehicle management experience.
• Experience with haulers and distribution companies, and knowledge of sustainable fleet practices and industry trends.
• Ability to negotiate, solve problems, work under pressure and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Office 365, IT tools and fleet management systems.
• Ability to manage vendor contracts and procurement processes.
