General Trade Manager

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a General Trade Manager in Nairobi for its FMCG business. The role covers sales strategy, distributor management, team leadership and market expansion, with a stated salary of KSh 180,000.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and run General Trade sales strategies to hit revenue, volume, distribution and market share targets, driving growth across wholesale, retail and traditional trade outlets.
• Manage distributor relationships, set targets, monitor performance and ensure distributors keep adequate stock and execute company strategies.
• Lead, coach and manage the sales team, set KPIs, hold performance reviews and build a high-performance culture.
• Expand distribution and outlet penetration, improve product availability and visibility, and monitor competitors, pricing and promotions.
• Build relationships with wholesalers, retailers and distributors, support pricing and trade terms while protecting margins, and monitor sales, collections, stock movement and trade spend.
• Prepare regular sales and performance reports, analyse sales data and provide market intelligence on competitors, customers, pricing and channels.

Required profile

• Degree in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration or a related field.
• At least 7 years of FMCG sales experience, with significant experience managing General Trade operations.
• Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales and distribution targets.
• Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and managing sales teams.
• Strong understanding of the Kenyan FMCG market and General Trade landscape.

• Strong commercial acumen and ability to analyse sales performance.
• Negotiation, communication, relationship management and problem-solving skills.
