Green HDV Consultant – Sustainable Mobility

About the role
The Green HDV Consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Management Officer for Green Freight within UNEP’s Sustainable Mobility Unit in Nairobi. The role focuses on advancing heavy‑duty vehicle (HDV) electrification and green freight initiatives across African corridors.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare a report documenting at least three South‑South online knowledge exchanges among major transport corridors such as the Bi‑Oceanic, Northern, Central, Abidjan‑Lagos, Southern Africa, and ASEAN regions.
- Produce a technical assistance report for the development of the Green Freight Strategy and Action Plan for the Abidjan‑Lagos Corridor.
- Develop a strategy outlining how UNEP can support e‑BRT and e‑bus projects in African cities for replication across sub‑regions.
- Compile a stakeholder‑engagement report for an HDV electrification roadmap or strategy in the SADC region.
- Design a scale‑up concept and funding proposal to expand the UNEP Green Freight Programme.
