About the role
UNICEF is seeking a Health Specialist to provide expert technical guidance on paediatric HIV programmes within its Global Programme Division. Based in Nairobi, you will work at the intersection of global strategy and country‑level impact, supporting high‑burden countries in sub‑Saharan Africa to scale up prevention, testing, treatment and long‑term care for children and adolescents.
Key responsibilities
- Lead technical support for paediatric HIV programmes, helping country teams design and implement integrated strategies.
- Collaborate with WHO, UN agencies and civil society to translate evidence into actionable policies.
- Strengthen health systems by integrating HIV services with primary health care and nutrition platforms.
- Contribute to quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation to ensure measurable programme outcomes.
- Support the triple elimination agenda for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B.
Required profile
- Advanced degree in public health, medicine, epidemiology or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in paediatric HIV or child survival programmes, preferably in sub‑Saharan Africa.
- Demonstrated ability to work with governments, partners and multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
