IB Year 3 Homeroom Maternity Cover Teacher

About the role

Aga Khan Academy Mombasa is looking for a full-time IB Year 3 homeroom maternity cover teacher. The role covers the Year 3 homeroom while the regular teacher is on maternity leave, within the Junior School.

Key responsibilities

• Plan curriculum documents collaboratively, reflecting the Academy's standards and the Primary Years Programme (PYP).
• Teach using inquiry-based methods and differentiate activities to meet the needs of all students.
• Assess, record and track student progress, sharing this information honestly and sensitively with parents and guardians.
• Communicate programme information to all stakeholders.
• Resource programme needs and maintain existing inventory carefully.
• Take part in the life of the Junior School and the Academy, inside and outside normal school hours.
• Monitor student behaviour so that core values and the discipline policy are followed.
• Take part in the Appraisal for Growth process as a member of the professional learning community.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor's degree.
• TSC certificate, an internationally recognized teaching qualification, or a BEd / MEd.
• At least 3 years of teaching experience as a PYP teacher.
• Knowledge of child development theories and best practices.
• Highly collaborative, creative, adaptable and empathetic, with strong communication skills.
