Inventory Controller – Coffee Warehouse

About the role

Africa Global Logistics is hiring a full-time Inventory Controller in Nairobi to monitor and control inventory levels, receive and verify incoming goods, maintain accurate stock records and prevent stock losses or shortages. The role focuses on coffee: tracking its movements from receipt, storage, internal transfers, processing and re-bagging to dispatch, while keeping full traceability by client, lot, grade, marks, warrant status, bag count and weight.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate inventory records for all coffee held in the warehouse and ensure physical stock locations match system records.
• Monitor stock movements between warehouse locations, including independently verifying coffee issued to processing.
• Investigate differences between physical stock and system balances and follow up on unresolved discrepancies until closed.
• Ensure coffee is not moved, processed or dispatched without authorization and documentation, and reconcile coffee returned from processing against the quantity issued.
• Coordinate daily, weekly and monthly stock reconciliations, prepare formal variance reports and clearly identify restricted, held or pending warrant coffee.
• Ensure inventory transactions have supporting documentation, support full product traceability and update system stock promptly after dispatch.
• Immediately escalate suspected stock tampering, unauthorized movement, contamination or loss.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Inventory Management, Warehousing, Business Administration or a related field.
• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations or stock management.
• Previous experience in coffee, tea, grain or other agricultural commodity warehousing, and with high-volume/bulk inventory.
• Knowledge of coffee processing and export operations, and experience supporting internal or external audits.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of inventory reconciliation and stock-control procedures.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP/WMS or other inventory management systems.
