Investigation Officer (P-2) – Fixed Term – Nairobi

About the role

The Office of Internal Audit and Investigation (OIAI) at UNICEF seeks a professional Investigation Officer (P-2) on a fixed‑term basis in Nairobi. Reporting to the Chief of Investigations, you will support the planning, organization and conduct of investigations into alleged misconduct, fraud, corruption, waste of resources and sexual exploitation and abuse.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and execution of investigations covering complex and sensitive matters, including SEAH cases.
• Apply UNICEF’s investigative procedures, evidentiary standards and administrative rules.
• Collect, analyse and preserve evidence while ensuring victim‑centred principles.
• Prepare investigative reports and recommend appropriate disciplinary or referral actions.
• Support day‑to‑day operational activities of the investigations section and coordinate travel to other UNICEF locations as required.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree or equivalent professional experience in audit, investigations, law, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and high‑risk investigations.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.
• Understanding of UN and UNICEF regulations, especially those related to SEAH.

Required skills

• Knowledge of investigative methodologies and evidentiary standards.
• Familiarity with UN/UNICEF policies on misconduct and sexual exploitation.
