Investigations Assistant (UN OIOS)

About the role

The Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) of the United Nations is seeking an Investigation Assistant to support its Investigations Division in Nairobi. You will work closely with senior investigators to plan, conduct, and document investigations into alleged violations of UN rules and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing and conducting investigations related to intake of alleged violations.
• Gather facts, identify evidence, and draft investigation reports for appropriate authorities.
• Coordinate with United Nations entities and external authorities throughout the investigative process.
• Prepare statistical and investigative findings, draft annual and semi‑annual reports, and respond to intergovernmental inquiries.
• Initiate and manage cases in the OIOS case management system, conduct background checks and research.
• Monitor the OIOS hotline, record complaints, and manage transcription requests.
• Collect, analyse and present data, and support the creation of visual materials, web pages and brochures.
• Perform other duties as required to support the division’s mission.

Required profile

• Professionalism with solid knowledge of investigation theories, concepts and approaches.
• Strong research, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to identify issues and contribute to their resolution.
