Investigations Officer – eMobility (Kenya)

About the role

M-KOPA is seeking an Investigations Officer to join its rapidly growing Mobility team in Kenya. The role focuses on protecting the integrity of the eMobility business by leading field investigations into battery incidents, traffic accidents, and asset impound cases, while collaborating closely with police and legal authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead first‑response and follow‑up investigations for battery thermal events, traffic accidents, and other asset‑related incidents.
• Liaise with police, law‑enforcement agencies, and relevant authorities to manage asset release and recovery processes.
• Support the Customer Performance team in locating and engaging poor‑paying, unreachable, or suspected‑fraud customers for loan collections and asset recovery.
• Maintain detailed records of incidents, investigations, and communications with external authorities.
• Develop best‑practice guidelines and recommend improvements to investigative procedures and post‑incident protocols.
• Ensure consistent case follow‑up across police stations and other agencies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in fire incident response and investigations.
• Track record of working effectively with law‑enforcement agencies.
• Solid understanding of traffic laws, regulations, and criminal‑justice processes.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable engaging customers, police, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to work proactively and independently in the field.
• Fluent in both Swahili and English.
• Certification in a fraud‑related discipline such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is preferred.
