Island Room Manager

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a full-time Island Room Manager in Mombasa, Kenya. The role oversees food, beverage and entertainment operations, manages budgets and ensures a safe, welcoming environment that meets guest expectations and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee operational processes and standards to maintain efficiency and high-quality service.
• Supervise and lead staff for food, beverage and entertainment, providing training and mentoring.
• Plan and run recreational events and activities for guests and patrons.
• Keep the venue welcoming, organized and safe, and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental guidelines.
• Monitor food and beverage costs, manage budgets and maintain an efficient scheduling system.
• Coordinate with vendors for food, beverages and supplies, and liaise with government representatives and stakeholders.
• Analyse customer feedback and act on it to improve services.
• Handle emergencies promptly, being on site within one hour of notification, and keep accurate records and reports.

Required profile

• A four-year degree in business administration, food and beverage management, hospitality or a related field, or equivalent experience; plus at least five years of specialized middle-manager experience in a similar civilian commercial setting.
• Valid passport (at least one year's validity) and ability to obtain country-specific visas and pass contract medical requirements.
• Ability to read, speak and understand English and to complete required training such as CPR, First Aid, Food Safety and Sanitation and alcohol server intervention training.
• Preferred: OCONUS experience with a multi-national workforce, a country driver's licence, military or government facility dining and entertainment experience, and knowledge of U.S. Navy contract performance standards.
