Public Area Supervisor

About the role

Fairmont Hotels and Resorts is looking for a Public Area Supervisor to supervise and coordinate the cleaning, maintenance and presentation of all public areas of the hotel. The goal is to consistently achieve the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily cleaning in lobby and reception areas, public guest washrooms, corridors and staircases, restaurants and bars, meeting rooms and banquet areas, entrances and exterior walkways, and the spa, gym and kids club.
• Conduct regular inspections, assign duties, monitor staff performance and coordinate deep-cleaning schedules for carpets, upholstery, walls, windows and hard floors.
• Follow up on maintenance issues and report defects promptly; keep areas guest-ready during conferences, meetings and special events.
• Prepare daily schedules, train and coach attendants, ensure compliance with housekeeping SOPs, and monitor grooming and appearance.
• Control cleaning chemicals and supplies, maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, and assist in controlling departmental expenses.
• Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards, keep wet-floor signs and other safety measures in place, and follow key control and security procedures.
• Provide professional guest service, handle cleanliness-related complaints, and work with Front Office, Engineering, Security and Food & Beverage.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management or a related field.
• At least 2-3 years' experience in housekeeping operations, preferably in a luxury hotel; luxury hotel experience is an added advantage.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills, strong written and verbal communication, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask under pressure.
