Junior Associate II (Legal) – Nairobi

About the role

A leading legal firm in Nairobi is seeking a Junior Associate II to support a Senior Associate in commercial and litigation matters. The role involves delivering quality legal services, managing client relationships and ensuring timely completion of assignments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support on commercial and litigation matters, ensuring accuracy and adherence to timelines.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, responding promptly to their legal needs.
• Conduct legal research, analyse legislation and case law, and prepare practical legal advice.
• Draft, review and proofread contracts, pleadings, opinions and other legal documents.
• Assist in preparation and management of litigation files, court documents and related records.
• Ensure compliance with firm policies, professional standards, ethical requirements and client confidentiality.
• Monitor legal developments relevant to clients’ industries to keep advice up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognised university.
• Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practising certificate where required.
• Excellent research, drafting, written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational skills, high integrity and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and a commitment to continuous learning.
