Lecturer – Health Records & Information Management

About the role

Mount Kenya University seeks a dedicated Lecturer to join the Health Records & Information Management department. The role involves delivering undergraduate, diploma and certificate courses, contributing to curriculum development, and supporting the department’s research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in curriculum development and review, preparing detailed course outlines.
• Develop learning materials that align with the syllabus and ensure effective delivery.
• Teach assigned courses across undergraduate, diploma and certificate programmes.
• Set, invigilate and grade examinations, providing progress reports to the department.
• Supervise student projects, attend defence meetings and guide successful completion.
• Conduct research, prepare publications and present at conferences.
• Seek external funding to support departmental research initiatives.
• Facilitate field studies, internships and assess student performance during attachments.
• Attend university meetings, monitor class attendance and perform administrative duties as required.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution, or a Master’s degree with registration for a PhD (as per MKU guidelines).
• Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience at a recognized academic institution.
• Registration with the Health Records & Information Management Board.
