Lecturer – Health Sciences (Public Health)

About the role

Machakos University is seeking a full‑time Lecturer in Health Sciences with a specialization in Public Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, mentoring, and supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as contributing to the university’s research and community outreach activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop teaching materials and deliver lectures for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
• Set, moderate, and mark examinations.
• Supervise student projects, dissertations, and theses.
• Participate in the design and development of new courses and annual faculty plans.
• Initiate and engage in research projects, publishing findings in refereed journals.
• Provide professional and community services, including industry linkages and academic trips.
• Assess industrial attachments for students.
• Contribute to departmental committees and administrative duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Earned PhD degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university, or a Master’s degree in a relevant field plus at least three years of university‑level teaching or research/industry experience.
• Minimum of 24 research and publication points, with at least 16 points from refereed journals, a post‑secondary textbook, or four book chapters.
• Registration with the relevant professional body where applicable.
