Legal Claims Intern

About the role

Britam is hiring a Legal Claims Intern in Nairobi (Westlands), reporting to the Assistant Manager Legal Claims. The role covers reviewing and processing outstanding fee notes in line with the executed SLA and the Advocates Remuneration Order, and supports recovery claims and reconciliation with service providers.

Key responsibilities

• Review and process all outstanding fee notes according to the executed SLA and the Advocates Remuneration Order.
• Follow up on outstanding documentation needed to process fee notes and third-party claims.
• Assist in reconciling fee note statements with service providers.
• Help prepare, issue and report on statements confirming closure of fee note accounts with service providers.
• Initiate and pursue recovery claims, including payment of fees claimed.
• Prepare recovery schedules and supporting documentation, maintain a tracker for recovery matters and follow up accordingly.
• Assist with data entry, document management and information retrieval, and review files and follow up on documents as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, preferably with an insurance option.
• No prior experience required; foundational knowledge of insurance processes and procedures is advantageous.

Required skills

• Computer literacy is essential.
• Knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements and insurance products.
• Sales and marketing management skills.
