About the role
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority, setting the agenda for sustainable development and advocating for the planet. Within UNEP, the Industry and Economy Division works to help governments, industry, and finance sectors adopt policies and technologies that promote sustainable consumption and production, including circular economy approaches and safe chemical management. The Law Division provides the legal framework for UNEP’s environmental governance. This Legal Officer position is based in the Plastics Unit of the Industry and Economy Division in Nairobi, collaborating closely with the Law Division. Reporting to the Head of the Plastics Unit and guided by senior leaders of the Industry Innovation Branch and the Law Division, the incumbent will support UNEP’s work on environmental law related to plastics and broader sustainability challenges.
