Local Sales & Market Development Lead

About the role

One Acre Fund is seeking a commercial professional with at least two years of FMCG experience to drive market expansion for its Tupande brand in Kenya. The role focuses on placing products in major supermarkets, launching new product lines, and securing high‑value B2B sales.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new market opportunities and distribution networks for retail, animal feed, and bio‑char products.
• Place products on shelves of major supermarkets, wholesale distributors, and key retail outlets.
• Map local demand for excess produce and develop B2B or alternative sales channels for bio‑char, animal feed, and processing by‑products.
• Build, negotiate, and maintain strategic partnerships with retailers, distributors, and B2B customers.
• Own customer relationships, drive the sales pipeline, close deals, and provide accurate revenue forecasts.
• Design and execute go‑to‑market strategies for new product lines.
• Track sales performance, report updates, and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience in fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) or retail distribution, preferably with supermarket listings.
• Experience managing a minimum recurring revenue of $5 million, negotiating commercial agreements and trade terms.
• Proven track record of taking new food, agriculture, or animal‑nutrition products from concept to market launch.
• Ability to bridge market opportunities with operational capacities and negotiate listing fees, payment terms, and margins.
