Maintenance Manager – Plant & Mechanical Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead mechanical and electrical maintenance across our processing plant and cold‑chain operations. The role focuses on maximizing equipment uptime, implementing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring safety and cost standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Lead maintenance of mechanical and electrical plant assets, including blast freezers, industrial refrigeration, cold rooms, conveyors, dryers and ventilation systems.
• Develop and execute planned and preventive maintenance schedules, shifting from reactive to structured maintenance.
• Supervise technicians, contractors and external maintenance agencies, planning daily activities and allocating manpower.
• Oversee equipment installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Manage spares, tools, fuel and operational costs, maintaining critical spare inventory and coordinating with vendors.
• Monitor equipment downtime, maintenance performance and plant uptime, conducting root‑cause analysis for major failures.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health, food safety and environmental standards.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and provide regular reports to senior management.
• Drive continuous improvement in reliability, uptime, cost and safety.

Required profile

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in plant, processing or facility maintenance, preferably in food processing, cold chain, feed milling, flower or poultry operations.
• East African operational experience is an advantage.
• HVAC/Refrigeration certification is a plus.
