Manager, Transit and Consolidation Operations

About the role

ANT Automotive Logistics, a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics (AGL) and a leading East African specialist in end-to-end automotive logistics, is hiring a Manager, Transit and Consolidation Operations in Nairobi. The company transports new vehicles from the port of Mombasa to their final destinations, offering port and CFS management, customs clearance, inland transport, storage, pre-delivery inspection and final delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Transit operations: plan, coordinate and control cargo movements from port or entry point to destination or border exit, ensuring timely customs entries, bond management, port and terminal release, dispatch, border clearance, proof of exit and file closure, and monitoring cargo daily with proactive exception handling.
• Consolidation business: plan and manage import/export consolidation (receipt, verification, sorting, staging, consolidation, deconsolidation, dispatch), coordinate schedules, cut-offs, loading plans, routing and space use with customers, regional offices, warehouses, carriers and agents, and set up operating processes for new consolidation lanes.
• Customer service and stakeholder coordination: act as the primary operational contact for assigned customers, lead operational reviews, resolve service issues and close complaints, delays, damage and claims, and build relationships with customs authorities, border agencies, shipping lines, ports, terminals, transporters and regional partners.
• Commercial support: help commercial teams with solution design, pricing inputs, implementation planning and onboarding of new transit and consolidation business.
• Financial and commercial control: prepare activity budgets and forecasts, monitor performance, control disbursements and avoidable costs such as demurrage, detention and storage, validate billing inputs and ensure timely invoicing.
• Compliance, risk and QHSE: ensure compliance with customs, transit, bonded-cargo, transport, security, trade and QHSE requirements, maintain SOPs, risk assessments and contingency arrangements, and monitor bonds, guarantees, licences and permits.
• People leadership: lead, coach and develop the transit operations team, define responsibilities and objectives, and plan staffing and shift coverage.
• Stakeholder management: act as senior operational interface for strategic customers, represent ANT in professional forums and maintain strong relationships with regulators, suppliers and industry partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Customs, Commerce, Business Administration or a related field.
• At least five years of relevant experience in customs clearing and forwarding, transit logistics or regional cargo operations, including supervisory or management responsibility.
• Demonstrable knowledge of East African transit procedures, customs documentation, bonded cargo controls and cross-border requirements.
• Experience in consolidation, freight forwarding, transport coordination, port or terminal operations is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency in operational systems and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with ERP, TMS or customs platforms is an advantage.
