Managing Director – Reinsurance (Pula RE)

About the role

The Founding Managing Director will shape Pula Re’s strategy, operations and growth across African and Asian markets, building a pioneering reinsurance venture from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Lead senior management to develop and execute a 3‑year strategic business plan, monitor KPIs and adapt strategy as needed.
• Oversee all operational functions, resource optimisation and organisational development.
• Build and manage relationships with regulators, rating agencies, government bodies, clients and partner reinsurers.
• Establish world‑class underwriting, claims management and risk‑compliance processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of diverse experience in insurance or reinsurance, preferably with retrocession exposure.
• Master’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, law or a related field.
• Proven leadership in multicultural, high‑growth environments.
• Excellent written and verbal English; French is a plus.

• Deep knowledge of reinsurance needs in African and Asian markets.
• Strong understanding of reinsurance operations and rating agency processes.
