About the role
The Mechanical Supervisor / Mechanical Lead will head mechanical maintenance, reliability and engineering activities for an Animal Feed and Solvent Extraction Plant. The focus is on reducing breakdowns, improving equipment availability and supporting continuous improvement in safety and production efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Lead preventive, predictive, corrective and breakdown maintenance across all plant equipment.
- Oversee maintenance of hammer mills, roller mills, pellet mills, mixers, conveyors, elevators, flakers, expanders, cookers, extractors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, fans, blowers and heat exchangers.
- Conduct breakdown analysis, troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance schedules and monitor equipment condition.
- Plan and manage critical mechanical spares and maintain equipment history records.
- Supervise fitters, technicians, welders, fabricators and contractors to ensure productivity and workmanship.
- Manage equipment installation, alignment, fabrication, modification, commissioning and improvement projects.
- Coordinate with Production, Electrical, Procurement, Stores and HSE teams to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Support shutdown planning, execution and equipment start‑up while ensuring compliance with LOTO, Permit‑to‑Work, hot‑work and confined‑space procedures.
- Monitor maintenance costs, drive improvements in MTBF, MTTR and plant uptime, and prepare KPI reports.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Diploma with strong plant maintenance experience.
- 5–8+ years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience in a processing plant.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects and work safely in a high‑risk environment.
