Non-Financial Risk Manager

About the role

The Senior Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Manager will lead the second line of defence for risk across the country, ensuring that risk frameworks are aligned with Group standards, international best practice and Central Bank of Kenya guidelines. This role is pivotal in embedding a strong risk culture and enabling the business to operate within its approved risk appetite.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, localise and continuously enhance NFR frameworks (COSO ERM, ISO 31000) across the organisation.
• Provide independent oversight and challenge on operational, technology, conduct, third‑party, financial crime and compliance risks.
• Prepare and present risk reports to senior governance forums (EXCO, RCC, BRC) and escalate material risks.
• Conduct risk assurance reviews, control effectiveness assessments and drive remediation actions.
• Lead end‑to‑end incident management, from identification through root‑cause analysis to remediation.
• Coordinate combined assurance activities with Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit functions.

Required profile

• First‑degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
• 8‑10 years of risk management experience, preferably in 2nd/3rd line roles.
• Demonstrated ownership of the full NFR lifecycle – identification, assessment, monitoring, reporting and response.
• Proven ability to influence senior business heads and provide independent challenge.
