Occupational Therapist – Physical Disabilities Services (FY27, 1.0 FTE)

About the role

The Occupational Therapist will assess, plan, and deliver therapy services for children from birth to 21 years with physical disabilities. The role includes direct intervention, consultation with parents and multidisciplinary team members, and support for early‑intervention and school‑based programs.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of children’s functional abilities and needs.
• Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy plans.
• Provide consultation and education to families, teachers, and team members.
• Deliver early‑intervention services in home settings and school‑based therapy aligned with curricular outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to legal regulations governing early intervention and special education.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program.
• Current licensure from the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice.
• Knowledge of child development, educational disabilities, and relevant legal regulations.
• Ability to apply therapeutic techniques in both home and school environments.
• Strong oral and written communication, human‑relations, and time‑management abilities.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of occupational therapy principles for children.
• Familiarity with educational‑based therapy, pediatrics, and sensory integration.
• Capability to relate intervention programs to curricular outcomes.
