Pastry Chef

About the role

The Partnership Agency is recruiting a skilled and experienced Pastry Chef with hotel industry experience to join a well-established hospitality brand in Nairobi. The role calls for creativity, precision and the ability to deliver high-quality pastry items consistently in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare a wide variety of baked goods including cakes, pastries, desserts, tarts, breads and other specialty items.
• Develop new dessert and pastry recipes in line with current food trends and customer preferences.
• Ensure all pastry items meet quality and presentation standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pastry kitchen in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Manage stock levels of baking ingredients and supplies, ensuring timely orders and cost control.
• Work closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen team to coordinate production schedules and menu planning.
• Train and supervise junior pastry staff when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Pastry Chef in a hotel or upscale restaurant setting.
• Proven expertise in pastry preparation, decorating and plating.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet high-quality standards consistently.
• Creativity, attention to detail and a passion for baking and presentation.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and shifts as required.
