People & Culture Coordinator

About the role

Pezesha, a fast-growing fintech building digital financial infrastructure for underserved MSMEs across Africa, is hiring a People & Culture Coordinator in Nairobi. The role strengthens coordination and execution of people operations so that key HR processes run accurately, consistently and quickly. It reports to the CEO and works closely with Legal and Finance, covering contracting, payroll coordination, performance management and employee lifecycle management.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate onboarding and offboarding, maintain accurate employee records and track probation timelines
• Work with Legal on employee contracts, track expirations and renewals and keep contractual records for audit and compliance
• Validate payroll inputs with Finance, maintain benefits records (medical cover, pension) and act as a point of contact for employee queries
• Run performance management cycles, track KPIs and flag gaps for review
• Support recruitment, employer branding, onboarding, learning and development, and succession planning
• Maintain HR data across HRIS, Google Workspace and Slack, reconcile staff records and generate regular HR reports
• Keep HR policies, contracts and records audit-ready and support internal and external audits
• Support employee engagement, culture initiatives and feedback mechanisms such as pulse surveys
• Organize employee records in HRMIS and Google Drive, keeping them audit-ready and confidential
