Port Clerk

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Port Clerk to manage the efficient transfer of containers, units and loose cargo between the Inland Container Depot (ICD) and the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA). The role ensures safety, accuracy and regulatory compliance while supporting daily port operations in Mombasa.

Key responsibilities

• Locate and cite containers, units and loose cargo for loading.
• Inspect cargo for damages and seal integrity before loading.
• Ensure cited cargo is loaded, scanned and exits the port within required timelines.
• Document cargo damages and issue KPA Equipment Interchange Reports.
• Coordinate with transporters on port entry, exit gates and cargo movement.
• Complete and issue accurate delivery notes to transporters.
• Ensure all cargo is issued with serialized delivery notes.
• Process gate passes for port exit.
• Enforce safety standards and safe work practices.
• Report all operational incidents promptly.
• Maintain compliance with KPA and partner agency regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in a relevant field.
• Experience in port or terminal operations is an advantage.
• Knowledge of container, unit and cargo handling.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• High safety awareness and discipline.
