Port Operations Supervisor

About the role

The Port Operations Supervisor will oversee the efficient transfer of containers from the Port to the Container Freight Station (CFS). This role ensures compliance with operational procedures, regulatory requirements, and company standards while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the transfer of nominated containers from the Port to the CFS within agreed timelines.
• Verify that containers meet criteria for seals, cargo security, and physical condition.
• Liaise with Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), transporters and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth cargo movement.
• Ensure timely location, loading, scanning and evacuation of containers from the Port.
• Validate cargo release documentation against company and regulatory requirements before movement.
• Issue complete and accurate delivery documentation for exiting containers.
• Monitor and document container anomalies, damages or seal discrepancies.
• Coordinate with yard operations teams for timely receipt of dispatched containers.
• Plan and manage manpower to support efficient port operations and monitor team performance.
• Resolve billing, gate‑in and gate‑out issues and process payment requests for shuttle drivers, casual labour and other approved expenses.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in port operations, CFS operations, logistics or supply chain management.
• Good understanding of KPA, KRA and port operational procedures.
• Strong leadership, coordination and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
