Procurement Officer (Imports Specialist)

About the role

A well-established brand known for handcrafted leather bags and footwear, represented by The Partnership Agency, is looking for a seasoned procurement professional to lead sourcing of materials, oversee imports and ensure all government regulations for exemptions and clearances are met. The role is based in Nairobi and is central to keeping the supply pipeline compliant, efficient and of high quality.

Key responsibilities

• Sourcing raw materials and finished goods from suppliers, balancing quality, price and reliability
• Negotiating contracts and prices with international suppliers and building long-term relationships
• Overseeing imports: preparing and verifying documents, customs clearance and liaising with clearing agents and regulators
• Managing duty exemption applications and ensuring compliance certifications such as SGS and KEBS are in place before shipment
• Monitoring shipment schedules and resolving delays or compliance issues at ports of origin or destination
• Working with Finance, Inventory and Production to forecast needs and optimise stock levels
• Keeping up to date with trade regulation changes and adapting processes accordingly

Required profile

• At least 5 years of procurement experience; a focus on imports is a plus
• Deep knowledge of Kenyan customs regulations, clearing processes and duty exemption procedures
• Proven supplier management and negotiation track record
• Experience in manufacturing is a plus

• Proficiency in procurement software, Microsoft Excel and supply chain tools
• Analytical and negotiation skills
• Strong organisation and attention to detail
