Procurement Officer

About the role

Trident Group of Companies, through its corporate staffing partner Astral Industries Ltd, is hiring a full-time, on-site Procurement Officer in Nairobi. The role sources quality materials and services at competitive cost and manages the purchasing cycle from requisition to delivery, with all activity tracked in ERPNext. The employer covers manufacturing, plumbing and vocational training divisions.

Key responsibilities

• Sourcing and negotiating with suppliers for raw materials (plastics, steel) and plumbing inventory, securing competitive pricing and favourable credit terms
• Processing purchase orders and managing requisitions in ERPNext, then tracking shipments and confirming deliveries
• Coordinating with manufacturing and plumbing teams to forecast material needs and prevent supply bottlenecks for Jumbo Tank and Wasser Pipes production
• Evaluating vendor samples and inspecting incoming deliveries for quality
• Tracking supplier performance against KPIs and KRAs, and reporting delays, shortages or quality issues promptly
• Maintaining accurate procurement, supplier and inventory records

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement or a related field
• 2-4 years of procurement experience; manufacturing or construction/plumbing sector preferred
• Certificate of Good Conduct
• Membership of KISM is an added advantage

Required skills

• Proficiency in ERPNext for procurement and inventory management
• Strong negotiation and vendor relationship skills
• Good knowledge of procurement procedures and documentation
• Attention to detail, integrity, reliability, analytical and cost-management skills
