Program Development Manager

About the role

The Program Development Manager will support the Impact, Innovation and Influencing Director and country programme teams to expand Save the Children’s funding and partnerships in Kenya. Based in Nairobi, the role leads the end‑to‑end proposal development process, ensuring proposals are responsive, competitive and aligned with the Country Strategic Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, writing and submission of donor proposals, coordinating inputs from Programme Quality & Development, Operations and Finance.
• Integrate proposal budgets with donor requirements and ensure financial compliance.
• Develop and implement donor engagement plans and maintain ongoing relationships with existing and prospective funders.
• Identify new funding opportunities, assess feasibility and drive rapid turnaround of proposals.
• Ensure all proposals reflect Save the Children’s three Breakthroughs, especially for the most deprived and marginalized children.
• Support emergency response efforts by adapting work hours and responsibilities as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in programme development, fundraising or grant management, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders across technical, finance, operations and senior management teams.
• Strong understanding of donor requirements, proposal cycles and compliance standards.
• Level 3 child safeguarding clearance and willingness to travel to field locations.
