Programme Officer – Immigration & Border Governance

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Programme Officer to support the Regional Counter‑Smuggling Programme (RCSP) in Kenya. The role will contribute to strengthening border management at major airports and enhancing regional cooperation against migrant smuggling and related transnational crime.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of RCSP activities, ensuring compliance with IOM policies, donor requirements, timelines and deliverables.
• Coordinate the work of programme staff, consultants, implementing partners and service providers.
• Maintain and strengthen partnerships with government entities, donors, UN agencies and civil society.
• Draft progress reports, technical updates and other communications for IOM, donors and stakeholders.
• Provide technical analysis of migration trends to inform strategic and programme‑specific funding opportunities.
• Identify donor priorities, contribute to proposal development and explore new programme initiatives.
• Facilitate information management, including regular updates, press releases and visibility materials.
• Assist in contextual analysis to support programme design and implementation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in programme implementation, coordination and reporting within the migration or border governance sector.
• Strong understanding of migration trends, counter‑smuggling initiatives and transnational organised crime.
• Experience working with government authorities, donors, UN agencies and civil‑society partners.
• Ability to produce high‑quality written reports and communication materials.
