Programmes Officer (NGEC Scale 6)

About the role

The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), a Constitutional Commission established under the National Gender and Equality Commission Act No. 15 of 2011, is recruiting two Programme Officers at NGEC Scale 6. The Commission promotes gender equality and freedom from discrimination for all people in Kenya, with a focus on women, children, youth, persons with disabilities, older members of society, minorities and marginalized groups. The position is permanent and pensionable.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing, implementing and evaluating strategies on gender mainstreaming, children, youth, persons with disabilities, the elderly and marginalized groups
• Contribute to the development of funding proposals and technical briefings
• Assist in developing work plans and budgets

Required profile

• Served as a Programme Officer II for at least three years
• Bachelor's degree in Gender and Development, Economics, Development Studies, Human Rights, Anthropology, Community Development, Sociology, Social Sciences or another relevant qualification from a recognized institution
• Met the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010
• Shown merit and ability through work performance and results

What we offer

• Basic salary of Ksh 148,500 to 222,800
• House allowance as per the posting station
• Commuter allowance of Ksh 8,000
• 30 working days annual leave per financial year
• Medical cover as provided in the Commission's terms of service
