Project Driver

About the role

SNV Kenya is looking for a driver to provide driving services for the TUMAI MAJI project sites in Samburu, Marsabit, West Pokot and Turkana counties. The driver supports project teams in fieldwork and logistics, and assignments are made on a need basis depending on field activities and workload. The role reports to the County Coordinator, with a dotted reporting line to the Fleet and Protocol Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely and professional transportation for SNV staff, visitors and consultants, including to project sites and field locations under varying conditions and terrains.
• Keep the assigned vehicle clean, roadworthy and well maintained, and carry out routine checks and basic mechanical repairs, refuelling and servicing.
• Verify and maintain the validity of insurance, inspection certificates and other statutory documents.
• Maintain the vehicle logbook with daily mileage, fuel usage and service history.
• Handle office errands such as deliveries and pick-ups when requested, and report accidents, incidents or violations immediately.
• Follow SNV policies, procedures and code of conduct, and carry out other driving or logistical duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• KCSE level of education with a good command of English and Swahili.
• Clean driving licence with over 5 years of driving experience.
• Ability to take responsibility, adapt to pressure and work in diverse teams and cultures.
• Solutions-oriented team player; regional experience is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills.
• Basic mechanical skills.
• Defensive driving is an added advantage.
