Project Officer (NYOTA) – Business Development Support

About the role

The Business Development Support (BSD) Officer will mentor NYOTA youth in Kakuma, providing practical guidance to apply Business Development Services (BDS) learning, overcome business challenges, and explore market opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct at least four mentorship sessions over four months, creating a safe environment for participants to discuss business ideas and progress.
• Provide practical advice on business planning, financial management, marketing, customer relations, operations, pricing and record keeping.
• Facilitate access to markets, value chains, financial services, business networks and other support services.
• Promote inclusive, gender‑responsive and disability‑inclusive programme delivery.
• Document mentorship activities accurately and submit timely reports in line with NRC requirements.
• Collaborate with NRC teams, partners and stakeholders to ensure quality programme implementation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Commerce, Economics, Development Studies, Livelihoods or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in business mentorship, enterprise coaching or advisory services.
• Demonstrated ability to support entrepreneurs through business challenges and growth decisions.
• Understanding of inclusive, gender‑responsive and culturally sensitive approaches.
