QHSE Officer (Health, Safety and Environment)

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, maritime and rail) now part of the MSC Group, is hiring a permanent full-time QHSE Officer in Mombasa, Kenya. The role covers health, safety and environmental compliance across the site, including quality monitoring of operations.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out QHSE inductions for new employees, visitors and subcontractors, and follow up on HSE action plans
• Monitor projects, sites and contractor/subcontractor activities, check equipment use and certifications against Africa Q-HSE standards, and run risk assessments for non-standard and critical operations
• Follow up on HSE statistics and reports, take part in monthly HSE meetings, and carry out daily site audits and weekly site tours
• Create an HSE awareness and training schedule, investigate incidents and accidents, implement corrective actions, and maintain HSE signage and tags
• Lead toolbox meetings, ensure compliance with HSE legal requirements, and report non-conformities through the AGL Progress platform
• Support the yard security, access control, cleaning and maintenance teams, and train yard traffic marshalls
• Provide Q-HSE technical support to the warehousing, transport, port and site departments
• Monitor quality improvement issues, support quality measures and corrective action plans, prepare daily QHSE occurrence reports, and audit subcontractor service quality
• Take part in quality monthly meetings and process reviews at least every six months, and stop any unsafe or dangerous activity and inform the Project Manager

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a science-related field
• 3 to 4 years of working experience in transport/logistics or the oil and gas industry
• Knowledge of management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
• NEBOSH is an added advantage
