Receptionist – Patient Access & Front Desk

About the role

The Receptionist will manage the front desk of Avenue Healthcare, ensuring every visitor, patient and client receives professional, compassionate service. The role includes accurate patient admission, registration, eligibility verification and coordination with payers to facilitate timely access to care while safeguarding confidentiality.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome, register and admit patients in the Hospital Information System (HIS), verifying identity and preventing duplicate records.
• Verify eligibility, benefits, co‑payments and exclusions before admission or scheduled services.
• Identify services requiring pre‑authorization and submit complete, clinically supported requests on time.
• Direct incoming telephone calls to the appropriate departments or offices.
• Communicate payer decisions to clinicians and explain authorization requirements, co‑payments and exclusions to patients with empathy.
• Maintain client satisfaction through quality service, effective communication, feedback handling and follow‑up.
• Adhere to corporate governance policies, report fraud or criminal activity and implement audit recommendations.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Records & Information Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar hospital front‑desk, medical claims, patient access or authorization role.
• Strong interpersonal, team‑working and communication skills with a high degree of responsiveness and ethics.
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience with healthcare information systems (HIS).
