Regional General Manager - North Eastern

About the role

Equity Bank Kenya Limited is looking for a Regional General Manager for the North Eastern region. The role provides strategic leadership in business development in line with the bank's overall strategy, leads a team of Regional Managers in meeting business development targets, builds key stakeholder relationships and contributes to the bank's strategic, long-, medium- and short-term plans.

Key responsibilities

• Spearhead the annual and quarterly financial plans and budgets for the region, manage the customer base to grow business and maintain a sustainable, profitable balance sheet.
• Develop and deepen relationships with existing and potential customers, lead business visits and act as the bank's brand ambassador.
• Coordinate sales initiatives, market intelligence and regional marketing, and increase market share in a profitable, ethical and sustainable way.
• Keep the regional loan book quality within approved thresholds, run a functional regional credit committee, enforce regulatory policies and improve audit and risk ratings.
• Maintain the right number and calibre of staff, manage succession, mentor and coach staff, and handle performance management and retention.
• Use the bank's management information system, segment the client database and submit timely regional performance reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or a related field; a postgraduate or master's degree is an added advantage.
• At least 8 years of experience as a Business Growth and Development Manager or similar role.

Required skills

• Experience in budgeting and forecasting.
• Leadership and management skills, and ability to develop, implement and review policies and procedures.
• Ability to oversee budgeting, reporting, planning and auditing, and to understand legal and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
