Registered Nurse – Theatre Experience

About the role

Provide high‑quality clinical care and compassionate support to patients and families across maternity, general, surgical wards and the operating theatre. The role involves peri‑operative assessments, nursing interventions and coordination of patient care throughout admission and discharge.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain clinical standards by following hospital protocols and collaborating with doctors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Perform pre‑, intra‑ and post‑operative nursing duties, ensure sterile instruments and equipment, and support surgeons as scrub and circulating nurse.
• Document patient records, peri‑operative data, and theatre charge sheets accurately in the HMIS.
• Manage surgical specimen handling, conduct instrument counts, and uphold infection‑prevention procedures.
• Assist with ordering, storing and controlling surgical supplies and equipment.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Nursing (KRCHN, KRN or BScN); registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
• Minimum 4 years nursing experience, including at least 2 years in a busy operating theatre.
• Valid Nursing Practice License and competency in BLS, ACLS, ATLS, ETAT+ and EmONC (preferred).
• Strong communication, teamwork and ability to work under pressure.
