Research Assistant for Digital Family Planning Study

About the role

Jhpiego is seeking Research Assistants to support a mixed‑methods assessment of digital health platforms for family planning in Kenya. The role involves recruiting participants, collecting quantitative and qualitative data, and ensuring high‑quality, ethical research practices.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, screen, and recruit eligible participants following approved procedures.
• Obtain informed consent and administer survey tools or conduct in‑depth interviews.
• Facilitate interviews using probing, active listening, and neutral techniques, recording them with consent.
• Maintain accurate tracking records, field notes, and data confidentiality.
• Provide daily updates on recruitment progress, report challenges, and support data quality assurance activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology or related field.
• Experience in qualitative research, in‑depth interviews, and survey data collection.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit participants, obtain consent, and work with human subjects.
• Familiarity with family planning, reproductive health, digital health, telemedicine or e‑pharmacy research is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and ability to work independently or in a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with smartphones, tablets, digital recording devices, and electronic data collection tools.
• Experience in qualitative data management, transcription, cleaning, or coding.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure handling of study data and equipment.
