Retail Lubricants Category Manager

About the role

A leading Oil and Gas company, recruited by Stratostaff East Africa, is looking for a Retail Lubricants Category Manager based at its Nairobi head office. The role reports to the Head of Specialties and drives growth and profitability of the lubricants category, executing category plans, running retail initiatives at forecourts and improving sales performance and customer satisfaction across the retail network.

Key responsibilities

• Drive execution of lubricants activities across the retail network, including the rollout of the revised lube bay offer and daily operational issues.
• Conduct monthly evaluations of product mix and sales performance, and present performance data to support decisions.
• Support the development and implementation of the Operating Unit lubricants category plan across all retail sites.
• Provide continuous training, coaching and motivation to retailers and site staff on lubricants knowledge and sales skills.
• Design and run programs that increase lubricants sell-out and promote premium products.
• Ensure stock availability, merchandising according to planograms and active upselling through staff engagement programs.
• Monitor pricing and competitor activity and work with marketing to adapt strategies.
• Oversee monthly lubricants forecasting accuracy and ensure HSSE compliance at all retail sites.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Sales & Marketing or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in category management.
• Proven experience in purchasing, financial analysis and stock control.
• Prior experience in retail operations is desirable.

Required skills

• Sound understanding of category management processes and merchandising principles.
• An understanding of the category management process is an advantage.
