About the role
Shining Hope For Communities (SHOFCO) seeks a community‑oriented Scholarship Coordinator to manage its scholarship programme across five target counties in Kenya. The role serves as the on‑the‑ground link between SHOFCO, schools, scholars, families and local partners, ensuring vulnerable girls receive the support they need to enrol, stay in school and thrive.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with public school leaders, SUN committees, families and local organisations to facilitate scholar onboarding and ongoing support.
- Identify eligible students in collaboration with SUN and Gender departments and manage the recruitment pipeline.
- Coordinate mentorship, school‑holiday programming and logistics together with SUN facilitators and the Scholarship Officer.
- Provide case management, monitor scholar welfare, and flag at‑risk students for psychosocial support.
- Collect, audit and maintain accurate scholar data, ensuring timely submission of required documents.
- Escalate critical issues to the Scholarship Officer and collaborate with Gender department for appropriate interventions.
Required profile
- Strong community‑engagement mindset with experience working at the grassroots level.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build trust with scholars, families, schools and local authorities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate programme logistics.
- Commitment to gender equity and education for vulnerable girls.
