Security Assistant (G-5) – Temporary, Nairobi

About the role

The Security Assistant will support UNICEF’s Country Field Security Advisor and the Security Section in Nairobi, ensuring the safety of staff, eligible family members and assets. Reporting to the Security Associate (G‑6), the role provides technical, operational and administrative assistance for a three‑month temporary appointment.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and security of UNICEF personnel and eligible family members in Kenya.
• Safeguard UNICEF assets, premises and programme implementation.
• Support compliance with UN security policies, procedures and standards.
• Contribute to security planning, safety and security services, and coordination with national authorities and partners.
• Facilitate knowledge management, capacity building and networking within the security community.

Required profile

• Secondary education (or equivalent) in a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in security management, risk management, emergency response, incident management, field operations or related areas.
• Strong analytical, communication, coordination, planning and reporting abilities.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
• Experience in humanitarian or fragile settings at country level is desirable.
