Senior Information Management Officer (Records and Knowledge Management)

About the role

The Independent Polipping Oversight Authority (IPOA), established by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority Act, provides civilian oversight of the police. It is recruiting a Senior Information Management Officer (grade IPOA 7) in the Records and Information Management department, reporting to the Assistant Director, Office Administrative Services, based at the headquarters in Nairobi. The cadre maintains records and develops systems for harnessing, storing and sharing knowledge and information.

Key responsibilities

• Implement policies, strategies, guidelines, plans, standards and procedures affecting records and knowledge management, ensuring compliance with applicable laws
• Implement knowledge management systems and practices supporting the Authority's mandate
• Implement systems and procedures for the Authority's knowledge hub
• Establish knowledge flows between people and systems for business continuity
• Map, capture, share and store knowledge within the organization
• Run knowledge management awareness programmes
• Develop reports for the knowledge management division
• Implement risk mitigation measures
• Coach, mentor and supervise staff under their purview

Required profile

• Cumulative service of six years, including three years at the grade of Information Management Officer at IPOA 8 or a comparable position
• Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Records Management, Library Science, Archives and Records Management or an equivalent qualification
• Membership of a relevant professional body where applicable
• Merit and ability shown in work performance and results

• Proficiency in computer applications
