Senior Manager, Data Management

About the role

The Rainforest Alliance is seeking a Senior Manager to lead its enterprise data management function. You will shape the data strategy, drive governance initiatives and build a high‑performing team to support our mission of conserving biodiversity and sustainable livelihoods.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the data management roadmap, aligning it with organisational goals and regulatory requirements.
• Lead metadata, master data and data cataloguing projects, ensuring integration with analytics, reporting and operational systems.
• Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, and quality KPIs across the enterprise.
• Mentor and manage a team of data professionals, overseeing hiring, performance and career development.
• Facilitate cross‑functional data governance forums and partner with engineering, analytics and product leaders.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in data management, governance or related disciplines, including 2‑3 years in a people‑management role.
• Proven track record building or scaling a data governance program from the ground up.
• Strong stakeholder‑management and change‑management capabilities.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, nationally and internationally.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with data cataloguing platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica or Microsoft Purview.
• Expertise in master data management (MDM) and metadata management.
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality methodologies and related KPIs.
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their impact on data policies.
