Senior Manager, IT Infrastructure

About the role

The Central Bank of Kenya is seeking a Senior Manager to provide strategic direction and leadership for its network and data centre infrastructure across headquarters, disaster recovery sites, branches and external connectivity.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multi‑disciplinary network teams, set performance objectives and mentor senior engineers.
• Oversee design, implementation and lifecycle management of LAN, WAN, SD‑WAN, data centre and cloud‑integrated networks.
• Ensure network resilience, redundancy and disaster‑recovery readiness for mission‑critical banking systems.
• Govern network security architecture in partnership with cyber‑security teams.
• Manage large‑scale infrastructure upgrades, data‑centre refreshes and emerging‑technology integration.
• Handle vendor relationships, contracts, SLAs and OEM partnerships.
• Drive regulatory compliance with internal policies and financial‑sector technology standards.
• Lead data‑centre operations to achieve 100% uptime while complying with health and safety laws.

Required profile

• At least 10 years of enterprise IT infrastructure and network management experience in a regulated financial institution.
• Minimum 5 years in senior technical leadership or people‑management roles.
• Proven leadership of two major enterprise‑scale transformation programmes (one data‑centre, one network).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Telecommunications or related field.
• Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE, network security, PKI/IAM, load balancing, virtualization/storage, disaster recovery (ISO 27031/22301) and ITIL.

• Virtualisation and enterprise storage solutions.
• Disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• IT service management frameworks (ITIL, ISO/IEC 20000‑1).
