Senior Product Manager - Digital Banking

About the role

Absa Bank is looking for a Senior Product Manager for its Digital Banking function, reporting to the Head of Digital Banking. The role drives the creation, enhancement and management of digital products, shapes the bank's digital product portfolio and manages the product roadmap in line with customer and business needs. It is a full-time, on-site position in Nairobi.

Key responsibilities

• Product strategy (50%): develop product visions and strategies for fintech consumer products and platform models, define an innovation strategy covering core, adjacent and disruptive innovations, and manage products through their lifecycle.
• Define KPIs for each product, review strategies against competition, performance and trends, vet strategic partnerships and own the product roadmap within budget and commercial targets.
• Product management (30%): design the product management architecture and processes, link commercial and technology teams to GTM strategies, govern practices against Group policies and build solutions for scale and distribution through digital and alternative channels.
• People management (20%): build and grow product teams, hire, coach and enable product managers, designers and collaborators across tech, vendors, partners, commercial, finance, legal compliance and marketing.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology or a related field.
• At least 8 years of work experience, including 3 in a similar capacity with a proven track record.
• 5 years of product management experience, including building product roadmaps and working with cross-functional teams.
• Experience driving product vision, go-to-market strategy and design discussions.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Product Management, Engineering, UX/UI and mobile banking platforms.
• In-depth understanding of Financial Technology (Fintech).
• Up-to-date knowledge of competitors and the local market.
• Ability to anticipate business and regulatory challenges and lead improvements.
