Senior Quality Engineer

About the role

One Acre Fund is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to own the quality and reliability of its complex software services. You will lead quality assurance initiatives, drive testing strategies, and mentor a growing team of engineers across multiple African markets.

Key responsibilities

• Manage quality assurance and control parameters throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Define and track non‑functional requirements, ensuring they are captured in the product backlog.
• Develop long‑term quality measurement strategies and SLA tracking mechanisms.
• Lead creation and management of key product quality metrics for stakeholder decision‑making.
• Source feedback and performance data from field staff and users to inform testing.
• Set standards for test automation within CI/CD pipelines and align testing frameworks across departments.
• Prepare, refine, and track test plans, cases, and acceptance criteria.
• Ensure department‑wide compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Mentor junior Quality Engineers and conduct peer reviews.
• Isolate, track, and resolve bugs throughout testing and production support.

Required profile

• Proven experience in software quality engineering, preferably in a senior or lead role.
• Strong analytical skills to translate technical specifications into testable criteria.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and communicate findings clearly.
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving continuous improvement.
• Commitment to documenting work for reproducibility and knowledge sharing.
