Senior Software Engineer – Google Play

About the role

Google Play is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design Android software architecture and lead technical development for the Play ecosystem. The role is based in Nairobi and focuses on delivering high‑impact features for gamers and developers.

Key responsibilities

• Write, test, and ship code that runs on every Google‑enabled Android device.
• Participate in design reviews and decide among technologies with peers and stakeholders.
• Review code from other developers, ensuring best practices, testability and efficiency.
• Document and update educational content based on product changes.
• Debug, triage, and resolve system issues affecting hardware, network, or services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.
• 3+ years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
• 1+ year of experience with software design and architecture.
• Experience with server‑side programming.
